Someplace for me to say things.
Skyrim Violin Cover
An acoustic and electric violin cover of two of my favorite themes from Skyrim. Arranged and performed by Jason Yang. Original soundtrack by Jeremy Soule.
I’ve been a huge fan of Bethesda’s games for years and Skyrim is one of the best games I’ve ever played. That, along with the fact that the game’s soundtrack is amazing, was more than enough inspiration for me to create this video. So this one goes out to all the creators and fans of Skyrim! Fus Roh Dah!
I posted this topic earlier this year. Here’s a little more on it. I’ve stopped eating at Chick-fil-A because of this. I’m kinda sad about it because I love their food but I can’t support a company that funds groups with an anti-gay agenda.
I cannot stress just how much I love the K-Drama of 보스를 지켜라 (Protect the Boss). It pretty much will show up a lot in this meme. That being said I love the third wheel male character in this show. Cha Moo-Won (Youngwoong Jaejoong) is a strong enough character that he could’ve been the lead male in the show.

I’m assuming that by “heroine” they meant protagonist or female lead character. I have to say that No Eun-Sul (Choi Gang-Hee) of 보스를 지켜라 (Protect the Boss) pretty much wins hands down above the rest. She is not only a strong character but is surprisingly perceptive to her situation. She is definitely not the traditional, clueless main character who has to be beaten over the head with a clue-by-four before the ending.
I’m assuming that by “hero” they meant protagonist or male lead character. I have quite a list of actors that I absolutely love love love love love but I’m going to limit myself to an actual lead character. This is a tough one because I also have a list of characters I really do like a lot. I guess it really is a toss-up between Choi Han-Gyul (Gong Yoo) from 커피 프린스 1호점 (Coffee Prince) and Hyun Jin-Hun (Hyun-Bin) of 내 이름은 김삼순 (My Lovely Sam-soon). Both are really good male lead characters who are funny as well as engaging to the audience. Han-Gyul edges out ever so slightly over Jin-Hun only because he finally admits to loving the other lead even though he mistakenly perceived that Ko Eun-Chan (Yoon Eun-Hye) is a guy.
보스를 지켜라 (Protect the Boss)
I did a brief review of this show previously (see post at http://tinyurl.com/3mdq5bv). I love this show because all of the characters were engaging and the dialog/situations had me in stitches constantly. Hands down this show is my favorite and a “must see” for anyone interested in watching K-Dramas.
Synopsis: Eun-Sul (Choi Gang-Hee) has a bit of a colorful history in high school and is now having a hard time finding a job because she has very poor qualifications on her resume. After her first job ends in disaster she finally lands a job as the personal secretary to the neurotic Ji-Hun (Ji Sung). She spends her time dodging love confessions of her boss and his cousin Moo-Won (Youngwoong Jaejoong), navigating the machinations of all of the Cha elders as well as taking care of the spoilt Na-Yoon (Wang Ji-Hye) who is really in need of a good friend.

I ran across this K-Drama the other day and started to watch it. It’s currently ongoing and slated to run 50 episodes… It’s basically about a housewife, Joo-Young (Seo Young-Hee), who finds out her husband, Tae-Kyung (Shim Hyung-Tak) is cheating on her so she divorces him and moves back in with her grandmother. She now has to restart her life which includes caring for her young son, getting a job, and a budding romance with hot sports agent, Woo-Bin (Ji Hyun-Woo).
So far the story is pretty cute but I find myself more engaged with the secondary couple, the younger sister, Joo-Mi (Kim So-Eun) and the cold director Woo-Jin (Ryu Jin). The relationship between Joo-Mi & Woo-Jin had me smiling more often than not as Woo-Jin tries to adjust to the playful antics of Joo-Mi.
I’m only up to episode 16 and since there are 50 in total I’m hoping that the storyline doesn’t flatline and get stale by the end.Edit

I have several but believe it or not I didn’t get my first nickname until I reached high school. This is when I started the long and painful process of growing out of my wallflower gawky phase into the extrovert I am today.
My first nickname, Bonstance, was given to me by my friend Priya. It was the first day of school and we were in our Earth Science class and attendance was being taken by the teacher. We were told that if we had a name other than the one listed on the roll sheet to speak up. We had a classmate name Constance and she preferred Connie. So of course, Priya pipes up to me with “hmmm… Connie is short for Constance… Bonnie? Your name must be Bonstance!” She was the only one to call me Bonstance until after she moved to Singapore. The name caught on after that when she wrote a long letter to all of us with different sections addressed to a different person. It took my friends a week or two to figure out who this “Bonstance” person was. Once I fessed up there was no getting away from it. My online handle, bonstanceus, is a variation of this nickname. When I initially tried setting up my original web based email account, bonstance was taken but bonstanceus was one of the suggestions as an alternative so I went with it. Thanks Priya, it’s all your fault {grins}.
Anyhow, I’m guessing that during my sophomore year is when some of the boys in my class started to notice that I was a girl and not just another classmate. Some of the guys in my tech drawing class started to call me Bon Bon. Yes, I know, it’s really not that original of a nickname but hey, it’s the first one I ever got from a guy. But really only the guys in my tech drawing and industrial arts classes really called me this. Looking back at it all I was clueless to the fact that it meant some of them actually “liked” me. {laughs} I found out this fact YEARS later and here is a bit of advice for my younger readers, if you like someone, let them know. You’d be Amazed that they just may like you too. Don’t wait 20+ years to let that bit of knowledge out when it may be a bit too late to do anything about it but laugh.
I got B-Chan from my good friend Mike. We were part of an anime group that met at a comic shop called the Comic Book Café. Mostly I was called Bonnie Chan until we started to watch Ranma ½. The character Hibiki Ryoga, who turns into a cute pig when he gets wet, is called P-Chan by Akane. She tells Ranma that P-Chan is short for Pig Chan. Mike started calling me B-Chan because it was short for Bonnie Chan. Most of my long term friends still know me as B-Chan.
Some of my children’s friends have started calling me Mom. This started when I began taking my children to Metrocon, a local anime convention. Usually I have a small core of kids that I’m responsible for whenever we go to the convention and I started referring to them as “my kids” to the staff members who are really good friends of mine. So now I have quite a lot of teens that I am a mom too.
How many nicknames do you have and what’s the story behind them all?
Most Asian dramas tend to follow a basic formula. The two leads meet and eventually fall in love or declare their love by the middle of the story run. Something happens to tear them apart. They go through hell and eventually get back together. There’s usually two secondary leads that form and odd yet skewed love triangle that leaves the “good guy” hanging in the sidelines because the female lead chose the “bad boy” and the secondary female lead tends to be cast as the bitch in need of a good slap with an attitude adjustment. Throw in some parental interference and have them put up obstacles for the couple that they have to overcome.
While watching the show you may not realize it right away but the writers seem to be spoofing all of those elements listed above. Generally you end up hating at least half of the characters by the end of the show and routing for a handful of them. I like just about every character. Even when they are at their silliest they still come across as real (as real as a TV show can be) and not caricatures. All in all, this is a gem and on the top of my Must See List for Asian Dramas.

Duran Duran Concert (10.10.2011)
Overall I had a blast. It’s been forever since I’ve gone to a concert (close friends will remember why I can’t do concert venues that allow for smoking). I was deafened by the opening act Neon Trees. The singer really needs to work on his mike etiquette. My ears where almost bleeding after his “shhhhhh! I’m singing from the heart!” comment that came across as bad feedback. Thank you oniichan for giving me earplugs for the rest of the concert. It seems the seat I was in sits directing in line with the gianourmous speakers. I felt the music and the ear plugs allowed me to hear after the fact. DD was awesome, BTW. Their performance was marred mainly by just about EVERYONE in my row not being able to stay put and watch the show. They HAD to get a drink about every 10 to 15 minutes which meant I had to stand and squish myself flat to let them by. Spent most of the concert on my feet. Not too big a deal if I were still 20-something but I’m not. I’ve been favoring my left ankle for a while now and having it trampled on all night didn’t help much. I’m favoring it a lot this morning.
They played a good mix of old and new songs. Wish more of my favorites were played but I was happy with what I got. From my seat I could see the band very well so I was happy. Nick looked cute as ever. I could not see Roger very well, unfortunately. John and Simon were great! Poor Simon though. There were a couple of girls in the front row that kept grabbing his hand and he had to forcibly yank it away. He looked annoyed every time he had to do so.
*sigh* the show was over way to quick.
I had a lot of fun at Mikki’s b-day party this weekend. Lots of friends, food and fun. My favorite quote of the night came from the O’Connor to me: “Help me Bonnie. You’re my only hope.” *giggles*
He was asking me about a Korean movie he saw on Sundance. I found the reference when I got home. The movie is called Joongchun (aka The Restless). I watched it last night and I’m so in love with the visual effects. In essence the story is about a war in midheaven, the place where the souls of the dead go for 49 days prior to moving on. The hero, Yi-gwak, awakens in midheaven and finds himself the only living being in the land of the dead where he runs into his deceased love, Yon-hwa. She does not remember him and he now has to protect her from hordes of demons et al. It’s a very pretty movie.

First cup of C8H10N4O2. I’m good for the next hour or so.
It looks like I’m over compensating for my injured left knee so now my right knee and ankle are twingy this morning. Breakfast consists of 2 Aleve and large cup of coffee.
Ok. So on to the events of yesterday. I fell down a flight of stairs after getting out of work. Landed on my ass and slide down a few steps (5 or 6 of them give or take a few I don’t remember). Problem is that while my body was sliding downward my left leg wasn’t moving so I wrenched the knee. Butt load of pain on the drive home so I popped a couple of Aleve®’s, ate dinner, putzed on the net for an hour until the pills kicked in and then went to bed. I couldn’t find a comfortable position because no matter what I did it put pressure on the damn knee and hurt like a b*tch.
1am – I wake up to use the bathroom and go to swing my leg off the bed and it fall off like a rock and the next thing I know I’m in tears from the excruciating pain. I felt like someone was trying to pull my leg apart at the knee. I managed to get dressed, get in the car, and drive to the ER. They took about a bazillion x-rays (4 or 5 of them) and I don’t have any broken bones. They can’t tell if I have internal damage (i.e. torn ligaments, etc.) so I’m diagnosed with a “sprained knee” and I’m in a leg brace that doesn’t fit properly and I have a brand new set of crutches that are useless because they hurt me too much to use. Oh… and a prescription for Percocet. I’m sure you guys know by now just how much I “love” narcotics. I still have the unfilled prescription for Vicodin in my purse from my last doctor’s visit for my neck a few months back. I hate how those things make me feel. *sigh*
I just need to get through today and then I’m off for the next 6 days. And get a new knee brace. One that doesn’t hurt my ankle. Yes ankle. They put me in this leg thing made for skinny tall people so it works like sh*t and hurts my ankle. And on that note, since I’ve never EVER used a crutch before I’m thinking I’m doing it wrong because whenever I do use the dame things my OTHER ankle hurts too.
I need this day to be over.
